Cotati / Rohnert Park

Welcome to Cotati & Rohnert Park

Neverending views enjoyed from eclectic downtown sidewalks.
Located an hour north of San Francisco and on the edge of Northern California’s wine country, Cotati and Rohnert Park are quiet communities just minutes from the vibrant festivals and gatherings of nearby cities and wine venues. Locals enjoy a slow-pace of life while being just minutes from Highway 101, offering homes that are on quiet streets with easy access to the rest of Sonoma County and beyond.
Cotati and Rohnert Park boast rich Native and Mexican backgrounds, evident in the architecture of residential enclaves and downtown businesses. The completion of the 101 freeway led to the establishment of a more modern town and one of the first planned communities in Sonoma County. Today, this friendly region is home to casinos, golf courses, Sonoma State University, and many other modern conveniences.

What to Love

  • Two eclectic downtown districts
  • Never-ending pastoral views
  • A “best of” destination for dining and wine in Sonoma County

Local Lifestyle

Boasting one of Northern California‘s most ideal locations, the communities of Cotati and Rohnert Park are situated an hour from both San Francisco and the coast, and perfectly within the midst of the Sonoma County wine country.
On the eastern side of town, several regional parks, preserves, and historic sites are waiting to be discovered, while downtown festivals and farmers’ markets are favorite events in the heart of town.
Towering redwoods line the streets, localized restaurant districts are home to eateries serving stunning cuisine, and hundreds of vineyards and wineries are a stone’s throw away.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

A hip urban-esque lifestyle meets the countryside in one of Sonoma County’s most eclectic communities. A mixture of everyday and more formal shops and eateries can be found in both towns. With two downtown districts within minutes of each other, locals enjoy the fresh foods, produce and wine that Sonoma County has to offer.
For more casual, everyday outings, look no further than Acme Burgers. Acme places an emphasis on quality ingredients with their pledge to only serve hormone and antibiotic-free beef, while also offering a variety of non-beef options. Fish and chips, fried chicken sandwiches, and Impossible burgers are a few examples, but none sell as well as their single and double-patty traditional burgers.
Hana is an unsuspecting spot for sushi and Japanese favorites served in unpretentious digs. Hana has perfected the classics like spicy tuna rolls, bento boxes, and shrimp tempura, while also creating several new rolls for the people of Rohnert Park to experience. Rolls piled high with spicy crab, avocado, tobiko, and the freshest fish around go well with one of their many cold sake offerings.
First established in 1988, Oliver’s Market has been the region’s go-to market for gourmet pantry additions. A large gift section, regular beer, and wine tastings, and a rotating selection of seasonal specialties are just a few things to love about this Cotati institution. Oliver’s provides pantry staples, everyday necessities, and easy grab-and-go dishes for quick dinners for those sometimes-hectic evenings.

Things to Do

Taste of Sonoma is a yearly tribute to all things wine and culinary in Sonoma County, taking place each July for the past several decades. Originally called Sonoma Wine Country Weekend, the event has evolved into one of the largest celebrations of vino in the state.
From June through September, the Cotati Community Farmers’ Market is held on Wednesdays in La Plaza Park. Locals descend on the park for fresh fruits, vegetables, and other handmade creations from hardworking local vendors. The arts can be appreciated at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center, which features several musical venues.
Symphony orchestras and piano concertos are regularly showcased within the majestic theater or on the greenspaces. More peaceful days are frequently enjoyed at Crane Creek Regional Park, spanning across 128 acres of rolling hills, lush meadows, and hidden pathways, making for a perfect peaceful spot to relax and unwind.

The communities of Cotati and Rohnert Park boast plenty of highly ranked educational campuses. They include:
  • Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District, transitional kindergarten-12th grade; this district boasts enrichment and magnet programs, award-winning California Distinguished campuses, and has been nationally recognized for closing the achievement gap to ensure all students have access to an advanced education
